Haile has more than 35 years of experience in German-Ethiopian co-operation projects. He was born in Addis Abeba and attended the German School there. He studied machine engineering in Magdeburg and worked as a representative for the GDR-combine harvester maker "Fortschritt" in Ethiopia. Currently, he works as an expert and consultant for the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) in Ethiopia.
